Poison was introduced as the first of a new line of fragrances from the design house of Christian Dior. The fragrance was available to the public around 1986. This scent was the first to be created and named without the use of Dior in the name itself. The creator wanted a provocative and powerfully seductive scent, and that is what he got with Poison for women.

It is seductive and enticing. The fragrance leaves no room for regrets, only a striving to experience everything that is available. The middle note or heart notes consist of rose, tuberose, carnation, cinnamon, orange blossom, honey, wild berries, citrus labdanum, and jasmine for the exotic and fruit scents that are sensual and rich. The top notes include coriander, plum, pimento, anise, and rosewood to finish the femininely seductive scent of Poison.

It is contained in a deep purple glass bottle that is almost in the shape of an apple as reminiscent of the stories told to little girls about apples. There is a seductiveness to the soft curving lines of the bottle and the ideal of the apple that a woman understands. The top is gold colored and capped with a clear stopper, the illusion of innocence in seduction.

Poison is long lasting and available in a wide array of products. The Eau de toilette splash is available in 1.7 ounce or 3.4 ounce size. The Eau De Toilette spray is also available in 1.7 ounce and 3.4 ounce sizes. The Eau de Cologne spray is available in 1.0 ounce and 1.7 ounce sizes. The Espirit de Parfum splash is available in 1.0 ounce and 1.7 ounce sizes. There is also Body Lotion, Perfumed Body Cream, and Moisturizing Shower Gel. Each of these are available in a 6.8 ounce container. Poison is also available in a variety of gift sets by Dior.

Poison was the first of this new line to be released to the public. The fragrance was a break away from the traditional Dior sophisticated and elegant scent.
